Testimonials

As my daughter had always maintained excellent grades, the changes I saw in my daughter were related more to self confidence/esteem, reasoning ability, and decision making; areas which can't be taught from a textbook or exam.

She knows how to relate, and knows the right amount of push that it takes to get her students motivated.

Testing, Testing...

Unfortunately, despite the significant amount of time the legislature has forced the schools to dedicate to testing, some students simply fare better in a one on one prepatory environment that meets their individualized needs. Feel free to speak to me about what tests your child faces and what is available to meet the standards for your child's grade level. There are appropriate and beneficial ways to help your child deal with testing pressure and prepare for testing.

In The News

Depending on whether your child responds to visual, auditory, or knesthetic cues, your child  might respond to different approaches to learning the same material. Additionally, as students learn material, each step is scaffolded in a process and built upon so that students can master skills and develop through grade levels. Sometimes, individualized learning can clue the student and educator in to simple but important issues that may be missing from from the student's foundation. There are real benefits to one on one learning and developing a plan for a student's unique needs.

In addition to tutoring, curriculum, and extra-curricular coaching, students need to understand interviewing, resume writing, college entrance essay writing, and other marketable skills necessary to enter higher education and the work force. I am happy to provide assistance and support in these areas as well.

Clearly not every student is the same and not every student will learn the same way.  There are many tried and true pedagogical approaches and methods to enhance study skills and comprehension for various types of learning strengths. Ultimately, each student responds well to one on one attention and focus. Students can be successful when appropriate time is given to enhancing not only skills and abilities but confidence and endurance. Learning is a process, and one we are all capable of, once we find the methods that work best for us.
